Sure, Jankenteam made a beautiful job and it's a pleasure to watch and listen. But it's also a quite irritating 2D platformer as it doesn't play very well and lacks precise controls and hitboxes. --- GamingTrend - David Flynn - 45 / 100 While the new graphics are gorgeous and being able to switch between old and modern visuals is great, Alex Kidd in Miracle World DX feels like three different games haphazardly slapped together. After promises of updates and improvements to this classic title, what we've got is something that we'd honestly not recommend to either prospective new fans or enthusiasts of the original Alex Kidd. We're inclined to think this may have been something of a rushed release, but that's pure speculation based on some of the more lax features (there's a lot of new dialogue but almost all of it is awkwardly written, with typos and errors). Alex Kidd in Miracle World DX is not horrible by any means, and you might have fun with it until you run up against its irritating issues - unless you use infinite lives, in which case you'll finish the game in two hours, tops. If this was supposed to be Alex Kidd's big comeback, we're sad to say that we don't think we'll be seeing that Alex Kidd: High-Tech World remake any time soon. --- Nintendo Wire - 8 / 10 Alex Kidd in Miracle World DX is a beautifully faithful remaster of one of Sega’s first landmark console titles, and it’s a very solid way of experiencing that slice of gaming history. --- PSX Brasil - Ivan Nikolai Barkow Castilho - Portuguese - 90 / 100 Alex Kidd in Miracle World DX is a great remake of a Master System classic. The game respects its origins, providing a modern look without messing with the source material too much, but at the same time adding new features like some levels. Perhaps its only problem is just that – the total content offered by the package was considerably large in the 1980s, but it is small by today's standards. Either way, you should check it out either for nostalgia or for those who want to know SEGA's forgotten mascot. --- PlayStation Universe - Dan Twohig - 6 / 10 Janken Team deserve a lot of credit for the incredible facelift they have given Alex Kidd In Miracle World. Whilst nostalgic players will certainly get a kick out of Alex Kidd In Miracle World DX, there's no getting away from the fact that the core gameplay hasn't aged well at all. Slippery controls and excessively punishing courses, as well as random death ghosts and chance rock, paper, scissors, victories make Alex Kidd In Miracle World a tedious endeavour that's far overshadowed by other contemporary and classic platformers. A charming inclusion for retro collectors, but otherwise not recommendable. --- Push Square - Brett Posner-Ferdman - 4 / 10 Quote not yet available --- Spaziogames - Italian - 7 / 10 Alex Kidd in Miracle World DX is a love letter to an early Sega mascot, an unforgiving but very colourful platformer that will please old time fans of the genre. --- The Outerhaven Productions - Keith Mitchell - 4.5 / 5 stars Alex Kidd in Miracle World DX is the same game we all played as a kid, with a new coat of paint and it works for the most part. Though the game might prove to be too difficult for today's gamers. --- VGChartz - Craig Snow - 6.5 / 10 Alex Kidd in Miracle World DX is an accomplished remake built around a core that's admittedly creaking with age. --- Video Chums - A.J. Maciejewski - 6.3 / 10 Alex Kidd in Miracle World DX is a faithful recreation of a classic Master System game. With that in mind, I would have much preferred an unfaithful recreation because Alex Kidd in Miracle World isn't exactly a shining example of an old-school 2D platformer. --- WayTooManyGames - Leonardo Faria - 8 / 10 It’s colorful, adorable, not entirely hard to play, and most importantly, it’s one hell of a nostalgia bomb for those who grew up with it back in the day. I’m beyond delighted that Jankenteam and Merge Games took their time to bring this 80’s hero back to the spotlight and I hope they come with even more Alex Kidd games in the near future. --- WellPlayed - Kieron Verbrugge - 6.5 / 10 Alex Kidd in Miracle World DX is a fine enough remaster if you have fond memories of the original.
