So I found this video talking about game glitches that got introduced on the SCPH-7500x revision of the ps2.
The topic of an updated revision of a console causing some games to exhibit glitches, or become outright unplayable fascinates. Losing backwards compatibility for an older generation of a console is one thing (I've had knowledge of this for ps1 backwards compatibility on the ps2). But for its own games?
Can anyone here give some other examples?
Here are some that I know:
Playstation 1 Rev. C that introduced the upgraded GPU with sgram (all ps1 models manufactured from late 1995ish onwards) - Minor FMV glitch on Jet Moto 3
Playstation 2 SCPH-7500x revision that replaced the ps1 cpu iop with the deckard iop – Sound effect looping bug in Beyond Good and Evil
SNES 1chip and SNES Jr. – The plane’s shadow in A.S.P Air Strike Patrol have become faint
Sega Genesis Model 3 VA2 – Gargoyles and Virtua Racing don’t work submitted by /u/Valenzu
